Jonny Smith drives it - the throwback styling cues to the Civics of the 70s make me smile.

Yup, the only EV I actually really like!

BUT....we won’t be getting it in North America, and the range is pretty terrible (only 200 or 220km, depending on battery option). :(

If we did get it here and they could bump the range to 300km, it would be a fine DD for me!

Oh I certainly do, though the range is far worse than the Honda E! :P

I don’t, in a way, think of a the 500e as an EV though. It’s a petrol-platform car that was electrified. When I say EV, I mean ground-up-designed-to-be-an-EV, should’ve clarified! :)

The ‘E’ is the only ground-up-EV I truly feel anything towards! LOVE it, but again, we sadly won’t get it here and even if we did, the range is too short for my needs. :( 220km wouldn’t even get me to ‘the city’ (i.e. Halifax), shopping/etc for the day and back without charging it. If it had 300km of range, it would do the trick nicely for all my usual driving I think.

I love the styling on the ‘E’ and the interior has one thing I love: it has the crazy touchscreen, sure, but it’s nicely integrated, not the ‘tablet glued to the dash’ design everybody uses, and THANK GOD, it actually uses REAL BUTTONS for the HVAC and volume and many controls, which I VASTLY prefer! Characterful little thing, the ‘E’! And Jonny’s warranted gripe about the lack of trunk space isn’t a hinderence to me at all as it would usually only be me in the car anyway and I often just use the passenger seat or rear seats as a ‘trunk’ if I need to carry a lot of stuff anyway...

What a great review and reviewer! I’ve never heard of Jonny , but will be following now.

I watched the Autocar review of the Honda e earlier and wasn’t as impressed with the car. Turns out it was the reviewer rather than the product.

If our track record continues, you’re right.

You can find Jonny reviewing on 5th Gear and on the Fully Charged YouTube channel. I’ve grown to like him.
